With people at the core of everything we at Colt do, it is no surprise that Colt’s CSR programme is one to be proud of. 2014 saw over €157,000 raised for charity, 8,000 hours of employee volunteering and we plan to exceed these figures in 2015. As part of our CSR calendar we in the UK have a new event: Strictly Colt Dancing.
With each Colt country partnered with at least one charity, 2 days are granted to employees in addition to their annual leave for volunteering opportunities. These days can be used for all sorts of activities and in the past have included, fun runs, the Colt Bike Ride, community work and mentoring. The UK partner, Coram is a national children’s charity committed to helping the vulnerable from birth to independence.
Inspired by Strictly Come Dancing, a British TV show featuring celebrities in a dance competition, thirteen volunteers are trying something a little different to make a big difference to the children Coram supports. The volunteers have been put through their paces over the last five weeks, as they’ve been split into teams and taught dance routines to perform in front of colleagues, friends and family at the UK’s biggest CSR event of the year on the 02nd July.
Over the last 5 weeks, not only have our volunteers showed their commitment to the cause and each other, but also have worked as a team, learnt new skills and built new friendships across the office. With each team of Colt volunteers preparing to compete against each other, all money raised through votes both online and on the night will be donated to Coram and the great work they do.
