Security remains a top priority for IT decision makers

New research has found that security remains at the top of IT priority lists in 2020, followed by adding Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Machine Learning (ML) and migrating to the cloud. 77% of IT decision makers said that improving security is one of their biggest priorities for 2020, with cloud migration and adding AI joint second on the list at 63%.
Commissioned by Colt and conducted by Brunswick Insight, the study covered 1,036 IT decision makers in 10 regions; France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, UK, and US.
Nine regions had security as the top priority, with the exception of Italy where the top priority was adding AI capabilities (78%). Other top priorities included new collaboration and communication skills and using SD WAN applications. The Netherlands differed from other regions, with a focus on new collaboration and communication applications in their top priorities (66%) above AI and machine learning (48%).
Security has always been a key focus for IT and network teams, even competing for attention with cloud migration or new AI applications. New information from the UK government show just how much the cyber security section is thriving, with more than 43,000 individuals being employed and an estimated worth of £8.3 billion. [Informa]
