Colt provides Decathlon with a global platform for digital services
Colt delivered a scalable, cloud-ready connectivity solution that enables Decathlon to accelerate digital transformation, enhance customer experiences, and support global growth with secure, high-performance network infrastructure.
Decathlon, the world’s largest sporting goods retailer, embarked on a digital transformation to support rapid global expansion and elevate its customer experience. The goal: move infrastructure and services to the cloud to reduce operational complexity, enable faster service deployment, ensure eCommerce performance at scale, and lower the costs of managing in-house data centres.
The Challenge
As Decathlon shifted mission-critical applications and services to multiple public clouds, the need for high-performance, low-latency connectivity became critical. The company required a global solution that could:
- Deliver a holistic solution with consistent levels of service, quality, security and resilience, with best-in-class after-sales support
- Provide flexible bandwidth that scales up and down in line with workload and consumption patterns
- Ensure low-latency connectivity across multi-cloud environments in AWS and Google Cloud
- Use software-defined network (SDN) infrastructure for fast, frictionless ordering and provisioning of new connectivity
The Solution
To meet Decathlon’s needs, Colt designed and delivered a global, software-defined connectivity solution in partnership with Equinix, AWS, and Google Cloud. The solution provides:
- A high-bandwidth backbone connecting regional hubs in Europe, Asia, and the US, enabling seamless global communication
- Direct, low-latency access to leading public cloud and SaaS platforms
- On-demand connectivity through Colt’s SDN infrastructure, allowing new sites and services to be brought online in minutes
- A PCI DSS-certified environment to ensure secure processing of payment data
This cloud-ready, scalable platform gives Decathlon a robust foundation to support its digital initiatives and global expansion – while simplifying operations and maintaining consistent performance and security across all locations.
The Result
Decathlon has a flexible, scalable platform to support cloud migration, increased focus on digital retail experiences, and continued business expansion. Colt’s on-demand services give Decathlon a single pane of glass for ordering and deploying network connectivity. And with less reliance on in-house IT infrastructure, Decathlon has also cut costs and complexity.
