Following the launch announcements of DCNet earlier in May this year, Colt’s wholesale customers have been taking advantage of the fast 10 day delivery of Ethernet services across 130 key data centres across Europe and Asia. Now the team are transforming the customer experience even further. By leveraging our SDN capabilities, we can now reduce our 10 day lead time to be able to offer real time provisioning of data centre interconnects at key sites all over Europe.
DCNet as a Service (DCNetaaS) provides a portal based experience, fully self-serve, with a pay as you go model to existing wholesale customers of Colt for services up to 10Gbps across Europe, with Asia to be included in 2016. DCNetaaS allows customers to reserve ports in various data centres across Europe and create a connection instantly, giving the customer full control of increasing / decreasing the bandwidths as required. With only a 3 month minimum sign up period, this service also meets the demands of short term projects, that need the flexibility and agility, and it is underpinned by Colt’s award winning LANLink Ethernet service. This is the first step in a long line of service enhancements that leverage Colt’s SDN capabilities and that wholesale customers will benefit from.
The first release phase of DCNetaaS starts in October 2015, with a number of customers confirmed to get a first glimpse of the service under a trial period in the UK, Germany and France. Full details on the general availability of the service will be announced soon.
